Megan Moore

Megan Moore’s artwork pays homage to masters of figurative painting and portraiture--da Vinci, Rembrandt, Sargent, Freud--while at the same time defying expectations, serving up surprising meditations on contemporary life. “My intention,” she writes, “is to declare the holiness and mystery of each individual I paint.”

With masterful technique Moore imbues her paintings with deeply felt, often enigmatic emotion. Her subjects are frequently extracted from the identifiable world, relocated to an imaginative and cerebral dimension comprised of color, texture and pattern. Yet her paintings are always full of humanity.

In Montana, Megan Moore’s work has exhibited at the Hockaday Museum in Kalispell and the Missoula Art Museum; she has also shown in galleries in New York and Paris.
