Vinca Swanson

"This body of work is about celebrating the animals and the natural environment in which they thrive along the Blackfoot River. My goal is to reflect the soul and energy within the animals and the water and their relationship to the land. I imagine the textures of their hides, their scales along the river’s current, and the wind through their feathers. I come from a printmaking and design background; thin dark lines and deep contrasts are ingrained in my current inkwork practice. I try to be freer and more abstract with my illustrations, not relying on literal representation. Within this dance of detail and abstraction I find connection to my subjects."
