DALE LIVEZEY

Dale Livezey's landscape paintings record the edges of day and night. They evoke a distinctly Western atmosphere that we feel as much as see. His highly color-centric compositions are the result of an intimate experiential knowledge of changing light and natural forms; his process involves spending ample time outdoors in what he calls the "magic hours” when the light and vista conspire to produce a moment at once soulfully familiar and intoxicatingly unique.

Livezey's paintings have been the subject of numerous group and solo shows across the West—including Big Sky, a solo exhibition at the Holter Museum of Art in Helena in 2018. His 6-foot by 8-foot painting "Confluence – Headwaters of the Missouri" hangs in the governor’s office in the state Capitol, and several of his images have adorned the covers of books, including The Big Sky by A. B. Guthrie, The New Montana Story: an Anthology edited by Rick Newby and On Sarpy Creek by Ira S. Nelson.
