Stray Ghosts & Echoes: New Works by Gabriel Kulka

18 August - 30 September 2023

Please join us for a very special exhibition of new works by artist Gabriel Kulka.

Kulka’s mixed-media figurative sculptures are quiet yet assertive, mysterious yet approachable, always unexpected, always alluring. Harmonizing exquisite craftsmanship and compelling creativity, Kulka entices our own imaginations toward these simple but fully realized subjects, their secrets and their stories. He explores the relationships we create with objects and the spaces that encompass our lives. Each piece is an examination of how we bind our memories to treasured objects, and ultimately resolve our internal landscapes by way of our physical surroundings. The furniture, books, clothes, objects we carry with us, the architecture and natural environments we occupy—these are not arbitrary or inseparable. They collectively contribute to our understanding of self.

With his minimal yet meticulous compositions, their unexpected proportions, materials and joinery, Kulka's sculptures invite us to wander through our own pasts, and to examine how they inform, inspire and complicate the present.

Please join us for the opening reception on Aug 18, 5-7pm. As always, everyone is welcome.
